Case Study:

All in a lifetime

Our Client (and her recently deceased husband) had lived in their home on Sydney’s Northern Beaches for almost sixty years! After deciding that she would like to move closer to her family in Queensland, our client contacted a local real estate who in turn contacted Moving Smoothly, to begin the process of selling her home.

Our client and her husband had accumulated a lifetime of memoirs and collectables – from machinery to furniture and ornaments to hobbies including hat making and cooking and boxes and boxes of photos, books and magazines; every room in the house and garage was packed with fifty-year’s worth of memories.

After 4-5 days of intensive sorting, grouping and organising with our professional de-clutterer, our client was helped and guided to make decisions about what to keep, donate to charity, sell via Gumtree or take to the tip. By the end of the second week, the house had been professionally cleaned and pest controlled; the garden maintained and all the items that were to be taken to Queensland were carefully packed and ready for the removalist.

Finally, using some of the existing furniture and effects, Moving Smoothly styled the property in preparation for the Real Estate photography – adding rugs, throws, cushions, lighting and effects to enhance the original look and feel.

The property sold within two weeks of going on the market – realising a figure in excess of the asking price and a delighted client was able to move on worry-free to her new home in Queensland.

“I could not praise the Moving Smoothly team enough! The ladies, especially the de-clutterer were lovely, extremely professional and had me organised and packed in no time at all. I would wholeheartedly recommend this service to anyone who needs to downsize and move on to the next phase of their lives. Thank you Moving Smoothly!
